Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data MindTransit ("the app", "we") collects, how it is processed, and who it is shared with. MindTransit is developed by Andrii Bannikov, an individual developer, contactable at support@bannikov.app.

What MindTransit does

MindTransit lets you record a spoken thought. The app transcribes it, classifies it into a task or an idea, and delivers the result to the task manager you choose (Apple Reminders or Things 3).

Voice recordings

Your voice recording is transcribed entirely on your device, using WhisperKit, an open-source speech recognition engine that runs on your device. The audio file never leaves your device. It is automatically deleted from your device 3 days after it has been fully processed and delivered.

Transcribed text

The text of your transcription is sent to our server so it can be classified into a task or an idea. Classification is performed by a third-party AI service (see below). Our server does not store, log, or retain this text in any form — it is processed in memory for the duration of the request and discarded once a response is returned to your device.

Classified result

Depending on which task manager you selected during onboarding:

• Apple Reminders: the classified result is sent back to your device and written directly into your Reminders app via Apple's EventKit framework. It is not shared with any other third party.
• Things 3: the classified result (titles, subtasks, and dates — not the original recording or raw transcript) is delivered via an email sent to the address you provided during onboarding, using a third-party email delivery service.

In both cases, our server also keeps a temporary copy of the classified result so that delivery can be retried safely — see Temporary server copy below.

Temporary server copy

To make delivery reliable — so that a thought is neither lost nor delivered twice — our server keeps a copy of each classified result for a limited time. If the connection drops in the middle of a request, or an email to Things 3 fails to send, the app can retry safely: the server re-sends only what has not been delivered yet, instead of processing your thought again.

• What is kept: the classified result (titles, notes, subtasks, and dates), a record of which Things 3 delivery emails have already been sent, and timestamps. It is stored under a random identifier that the app creates for each recording.
• What is not kept: your voice recording, the transcribed text, and your Things 3 email address.
• How long: until 30 days have passed since the app last contacted our server about that recording. After that, it is deleted automatically.
• Deleting: deleting an entry in the app, or deleting the app, does not delete this server copy — it expires automatically as described above.
• Use: the copy is used only to retry delivery. It is stored on our server, hosted by Railway, and is not shared with anyone else.

Locally stored data

MindTransit keeps a history of your captured items and their transcriptions on your device so you can review past entries. Your transcriptions are never stored on our servers. This data stays on your device and is removed if you delete the app.

Third-party services

• Anthropic — processes your transcribed text to classify it into tasks or ideas, and translates static in-app content. Anthropic never receives your voice recording, only the transcribed text. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Resend — an email delivery service, used only if you selected Things 3, to send your classified task content to your provided email address. See Resend's privacy policy.
• Railway — our backend hosting provider. Your transcribed text passes through it only for the duration of a request and is not stored. The temporary server copy of classified results (see above) is stored on our server hosted by Railway.
• Apple — processes your subscription and payment via the App Store. We do not see or store your payment information.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising.
• We do not store your transcriptions on our servers, and we keep classified results only temporarily, for delivery retries (see above).
• We do not access your Reminders or Things 3 data beyond delivering the item you just created.

Your rights

You can delete all app data on your device at any time by deleting the app. The temporary server copy of classified results is deleted automatically within 30 days (see above). If you have questions, contact support@bannikov.app.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's privacy

MindTransit is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
